Defensive Coordinator & Head Coach of the Girls and Boys Track Team at Gadsden City High School

Ali Smith has been a varsity high school coach in the Gadsden City School System since 1997. Ali has coached football, basketball, as well as, track and field in that time. He is currently the defensive coordinator and head coordinator of the girls and boys track team at Gadsden City High School. Ali currently serves on the Etowah County Sports Authority Board and Emma Sansom High School Wall of Fame. Ali attended Alabama State University where he studied criminal justice and was a member of the football team under Coach Houston Markem. Ali graduated from Jacksonville State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrated Studies and is currently seeking a Master’s degree in Education. Ali is married to Lamesha and he has three children.

"I always wanted to give back because that's what my dad always preached to me. My foundation's purpose is giving kids another outlook on life. Letting them know school is cool. Getting an education is the thing to do. I want to be the face of the youth and let them know there's a way out."
